    Well just because you flew a P-51 doesn't make him an expert on aerodynamics. Specifically it's not the turbulence on top of the wing That creates lift, it's the camber on the bottom of the wing that creates lift as the angle attack increases. NASA has well documented this phenomenon but even the experts like this pilot get it wrong, lol

    Sorry Jeff, as someone that has a T51 for 8 years - you will not remove tail wheel shimmy on the aircraft unless you have a double axle tail wheel. Having gone through every solution, the way we solve it was having a tail wheel in which the axle comes into both sides of the tail wheel. Also, make sure you have a real tire and not the plastic wheel that use to ship with the kit. This is not as authentic as the original Mustang but it is safer. Talk to John Williams at Titan. Good news is the double axle will still fit in the wheel well.

    You should never powder coat highly stressed steel parts on an aircraft like a tail wheel or an engine mount. Powder coating can hide any small crack that starts to develop. It is safer to epoxy Prime and paint such surfaces.

    I’m checking out the commercial pilot ground school program, through MzeroA, and one thing that I already don’t like is there seems to be no way to highlight potential errors. In a prequeli, it says that elevators cause the plane to rotate along the longitudinal axis. That’s incorrect, it’s ailerons that do that. And, Jason Schappert pronounces “camber” like Came-ber. Why??

  • @jamesmaroon6161

    So. Great build. 1st question. When he finishes college and moves who gets the plane? Does Dad or Son? When he finishes school will he go and be an officer in the military. I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years. That is why I asked that question. My wife is from Maine and we will be moving up to New Hampshire next year to be close to family. Good luck with the build. Take care

    Use acid paste brushes to apply glue and other liquids, cheap at HF.

    • @SocialFlight
      @SocialFlight 5 дней назад

      Brushes use up too much adhesive, which costs over $300/qt. It’s also to be applied in a very thin layer. That’s why Titan wants builders to apply the thin film using the tongue depressors.

Watch aircrashbhistory and you will see a long history of cost cutting, ignoring faults, and lying about them.

    G,day Jeff and Jake from Sydney Australia. The P-51 is looking great I have three questions; 1. Do the aluminium panels overlap or butt together? 2. Are with windshields acrylic PETG, polycarbonate or other? 3. Is it only rubber gasket U channel and silicone sealant? And, do the rivets go through the clear acrylic sheet? P.s the interview with the Navy seal then Astanaught, was brilliant: what a career. 🌏🇦🇺🛩️

    • @SocialFlight
      @SocialFlight 8 дней назад

      Hey there John. Thanks for the feedback on the show. He really is an amazing person. More amazing people to come! 1) Some panels overlap and others butt together depending on if the angle of the skin is changing. We have a butt splice on the top cowl between skins "B" and "C" because the angle changes a little there. For reference, "A" is the skin over the engine compartment. 2) The windshield glass is Lexan polycarbonate. Tough stuff... 3) It's only the rubber gasket as a seal. The Lexan is sandwiched between the aluminum windshield frame and an inner doubler panel. We glued the seam where the gasket ends meet. Other than that, we want it to be as easy as possible to replace the glass. Seems pretty water tight as far as I can tell around the glass. Every other part of the plane...not so much. ;-)
